Covid-19 Communiqué March 11
To all Parents and Teachers,
With the ongoing global COVID-19 situation, this message serves as follow-up to my e-mail dated Thursday, March 5, 2020 with regards to March Break and March Break travel plans.
I would like to first start by thanking all parents who have completed the first questionnaire regarding their travel plans; however, due to the fact that the COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving, all parents are kindly asked to complete this second, more detailed questionnaire, which will enable La Citadelle to be better prepared and ready to respond quickly and effectively to any health and safety situation that may arise over the break. This form is attached for your convenience and has also been sent home as a hardcopy with the students. Please complete and return it no later than tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, 2020.
La Citadelle takes the health and safety of our entire community very seriously and as such, will increase the sanitation and cleaning of many areas of the school during the March Break, focusing on high-touch surfaces.
For the school to effectively complete this task, students are asked to take all their belongings (textbooks, notebooks, supplies, shoes, and boots and gym bags, etc.) home by Friday, March 13th, 2020.
La Citadelle will continue to be proactive with regards to the constant evolving nature of the current Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) situation. It will monitor the situation closely and will continue to communicate with our school community throughout the March Break if there are any new updates or associated measures to adopt.
In the meantime, I would like to remind you that the current protocol states that if you or your family is travelling to or receiving visitors from any of the countries to which Level 3 nonessential travel advisement pertains (China, Iran, South Korea and Italy), you are expected to assume a self-quarantine of 14 days from the date of landing (for travelers to) or date of departure (for visitors from). All other travelers to non-level 3 countries are, until further notice, expected to monitor symptoms upon their return and to not come to school if they have symptoms.
On a final note, please continue to remind the children to follow thorough sanitation practices of proper hand washing, coughing and sneezing and encourage them to use hand sanitizers as an additional precaution when possible and ensure that their bags, bag packs, lunch bags and supplies are washed and sanitized before returning them to school after the March Break.
I thank you for your understanding and count on your cooperation in regard to the above.
