Covid-19 Communiqué March 17

To all teaching and support staff,

I have just informed our parents that we will be closing the school for two weeks following the two weeks of the March Break, from Monday March 30, 2020 until Easter Monday, April 13th, 2020, that we will be shifting curriculum delivery during those two weeks to other means, which may include using existing online platforms such as Google Classroom and that we should hopefully be returning to school and normal scheduling on Tuesday, April 14th, 2020.

In the meantime and given the rapidly evolving Coronavirus (COVID 19) and in order to avoid unnecessary on-site group meetings, I am cancelling our two PD days scheduled tomorrow and Thursday, March 18 & 19, 2020, closing the school for the remainder of the March Break and asking that you stay tuned and on call for further on-line instructions regarding the work we need to collectively do to continue to provide our students with the educational support during this difficult time.

For the time being, please be informed that the school will not consider your work from home  as an absence and will provide you with your regular salary as usual on the first of the month, on Wednesday, April 1st, 2020.

You will finally find attached a Policy Notice related to serious illnesses, including the Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) for your consideration.

We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and will provide updates as appropriate.  Consistent with the recommendations of Health Canada, we ask that all teachers returning from abroad or receiving visitors from abroad stay home for 14 days from the time of their return from international travel or the date of departure of their visitors, monitor their health and practice social distancing. I finally ask you to refrain from all non-essential travel and social gatherings and remind you that social distancing means staying out of crowded places, avoiding group gatherings, and maintaining distance of approximately 6 feet or 2 meters from others when possible.

I thank you for your understanding and your support of our school community and count on all of you to be proactive for the benefit of our children and all supporting members of our La Citadelle community.
