From Dream to Reality – LCA’s Legacy Begins!
La Citadelle’s journey began in September 2000, humbly situated in the basement of a church in Richmond Hill. With only three students, La Citadelle was driven by an unwavering vision—to create a holistic educational environment that would allow children to realize their true potential. That first morning, just as the Ministry arrived to verify the school’s authenticity, two more students registered, reaching the minimum requirement of five needed to operate as a private school. This marked the inception of a dream: a school founded on the belief that education should be child-centered, focusing on each student’s needs, strengths, and aspirations.
At La Citadelle, the goal has never been to mold children into predefined images, but rather to support them in discovering who they truly are. Through a nurturing, structured, and disciplined environment, our educators have provided students with the tools and skills essential for lifelong success, helping them develop independence, resilience, and the confidence to approach life with enthusiasm. Our educators are true mentors, emphasizing the learning process first so that each child can excel in knowledge and capability.
La Citadelle was built on a foundation of genuine belief in the potential of all children and the importance of a collaborative journey with families—not as a transactional service, but as a partnership in growth. Families who have embarked on this journey with us have discovered a community that champions their children, standing by them through both the natural ups and downs of life. This commitment extends beyond graduation, creating a lifelong support system for our students.
Now, as we celebrate 25 years, we reflect on a steadfast dedication to our mission. Through shifting educational trends—whether it was the introduction of a no-fail policy, the literacy exam for Grade 10 students, the removal and reintroduction of cursive writing, or the rise of online courses—La Citadelle has remained rooted in our belief that each child deserves an education that is personal, consistent, and forward-looking. Our commitment to equipping students with the tools, skills, and knowledge they need to grow confidently and discover their true potential has been unwavering.
As we look forward to the next 25 years, we promise to continue raising the bar for generations to come, championing every child’s right to an excellent education. To commemorate this incredible milestone, we are thrilled to announce a special celebration on May 9, 2025, inviting our past and present community to join us in honouring the remarkable journey of La Citadelle.
