At La Citadelle, the elementary panel (Grades 1 to 5) provides a holistic and secure environment that fosters the development of key life skills, academic growth, and language acquisition. With smaller class sizes and specialized teachers, students receive personalized attention that ensures their journey through these foundational years is both comprehensive and supportive.
In Grades 1 and 2, students are guided as they take on responsibilities such as homework, organization, and communication, with a focus on French language acquisition alongside formal English learning. While French is an integral part of the our bilingual program, it is not a requirement to join these levels. Our Francisation program, starting in Grade 3, offers students the opportunity to develop their French linguistic skills and begin their integration into La Citadelle’s bilingual journey.
The program emphasizes the child’s ability to acquire information, form ideas, think independently, and connect different areas of study. In Grades 3 to 5, students expand their curriculum to include Computer Studies and a third language (Mandarin or Spanish), further enhancing their ability to balance a rich academic and comprehensive program of study. They learn to develop a harmony between competition and cooperation, while also accepting personal responsibility for their studies.

This comprehensive approach ensures that each student is nurtured academically, socially, and emotionally, setting the foundation for proactive, independent learning and long-term success.
