Taking Flight at the Secondary Panel

  • Level IV / Niveau IV / Grade 12

At La Citadelle, the Secondary Panel offers a rich and comprehensive program that goes beyond academic excellence to prepare students for post-secondary education and lifelong success. Our curriculum, primarily taught in English, exceeds the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements, providing students with an advanced education while fostering bilingual proficiency. With an emphasis on English-language studies alongside four years of French, students graduate with the ability to communicate fluently in both languages, an invaluable asset for university admission both locally and internationally.

La Citadelle’s academic structure is designed to develop high-level skills across core subjects, offering additional credits in Mathematics, Science, and The Arts. This enables students to acquire over 36 credits, far surpassing the 30 credits required for the OSSD. Our small class sizes and dedicated, specialized teachers ensure personalized attention that promotes both academic success and personal growth. With advanced coursework available in Grades 11 and 12, students are fully prepared for the challenges of university and have the opportunity to build a robust academic profile, ensuring they stand out in competitive admissions processes.

What sets La Citadelle apart is not only our 100% university acceptance rate, but our academic rigor also our commitment to character development and leadership. Over the past ten years, our graduates have gained early university acceptance, often securing places in their first-choice programs as early as September in their graduating year. La Citadelle graduates are known for their exceptional preparation and balanced growth, making them highly sought-after candidates by local and international universities alike.

Outside the classroom, students at La Citadelle have numerous opportunities for personal development and leadership. They can take on roles as peer tutors, house heads, student ambassadors, and members of the Student Council, or participate in sports teams and clubs. These experiences help build leadership, confidence, and a sense of responsibility, shaping students into compassionate, intelligent, and resilient young adults.

At La Citadelle, we believe in providing an enriched environment where every student excels academically while also developing the character and life skills needed to succeed in university and beyond. Our holistic approach ensures that students are not only equipped with strong academic foundations but are also empowered to face future challenges with confidence, compassion, and determination.

University Preparation

What sets La Citadelle’s Secondary School apart from most traditional secondary schools is our open-door policy, which ensures that every student has full access to their teachers and support team throughout their journey. At La Citadelle, students are encouraged to take on leadership roles within the school and are provided with all the support, guidance, and assistance needed—no matter which program of study they choose to pursue.

Unlike many schools that direct students down predetermined paths, La Citadelle’s balanced and enriched curriculum offers students a wide range of programs to explore, helping them discover their passions for the future. Our dedicated team of teachers, vice-principals, counselors, and staff work closely with students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the application process to universities, both locally and internationally.

Whether students aim to study Mechatronics Engineering, Biochemistry, Law, Business, Philosophy, Media Arts, Animation, or any other field, our graduates receive personalized support tailored to their ambitions. From navigating the intricacies of portfolios, essays, and interviews to meeting specialized submission requirements, La Citadelle students are equipped with the tools and guidance necessary for a successful transition to university life.

Our commitment to individualized attention ensures that every student has the support they need to confidently pursue their dreams and gain admission to top-choice universities.
