Headmaster’s Excellence Scholarship* (For students currently in Grades 5 to 10)

La Citadelle’s Headmaster’s Excellence Scholarship, valued at $4,000, is available to new students applying for the 2024-2025 academic year to Grades 6 to 11, who have an overall average of 90% and above on their 3 most recent report cards in English, French,  Mathematics, Sciences, History and Geography from their current school, and who also achieve a 90% and above on their Entrance Exams.

Headmaster’s Honour Scholarship (For students currently in Grades 5 to 10)

La Citadelle’s Headmaster’s Honour Scholarship, valued at $2,000, is available to new students applying for the 2024-2025 academic year to Grades 6 to 11, who have an overall average of 80 to 89% and above on their 3 most recent report cards in English, French,  Mathematics, Sciences, History and Geography from their current school, and who also achieve a 80% and above on their Entrance Exams.

STEP 1

Application Deadline

Applications for admissions, along with all supporting documentation, must be received each year on or before the last Monday of January for consideration.

  • Completed Application for Admission Form
  • Copy of applicant’s proof of age, name and status in Canada (passport, birth certificate or student visa)
  • Completed Health Form
  • Copy of Health Card and Immunization Record
  • Copies of the following Report Cards:
    • January 2024
    • June 2023
    • June 2022
  • Copy of Transcript (Secondary School Applicants only)
  • Current Photo (headshot only)
  • Academic Letter of Reference
  • Character Letter of Reference
  • English Proficiency Testing results (one of: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, PTE Academic, OPI/OPIc – For International Applicants only)
  • Application Fee $200.00

Completed packages may be mailed, emailed or delivered in person during business hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

STEP 2

Examination Details:

Students in the Toronto Area:

Entrance Exams take place each year on the last Saturday of February from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Applicants are asked to arrive no later than 10:15 a.m.

  • Applicants applying from English Language Schools will be tested in the subjects of English and Mathematics.
  • Applicants applying from French Immersion/French Language Schools will be tested in the subjects of français, mathématiques & English.

Out-of-Province & International Students:

Entrance Exams take place each year via Google Classroom on the last Saturday of February from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.All applicants must register their attendance no later than 10 minutes prior to the start of the exams and are required to have a working camera, which will remain on for the duration of the examination period.

  • International Applicants will be tested in the subjects of English and Mathematics.
  • Quebec Applicants will be tested in the subjects of français and mathématiques (unless currently in an English school).

STEP 3

Admission & Enrolment

All information regarding scholarships awarded will be communicated to applicants no later than March 15th each year.

STEP 4

Enrolment

To secure enrolment and scholarship, all enrolment and registration requirements must be completed no later than the 31st of March annually.

New applicants, both Canadian & International, may apply for the Headmaster’s Scholarship.

Yes, all applicants to La Citadelle must pay the $200 application fee when submitting the application package.

An Academic Reference Letter details the applicant’s academic achievements and goals and provides an insight into the applicant’s character as a student and may include information about the applicant’s level of knowledge and skill.

An Academic Reference Letter can be submitted by any educator/instructor who can provide ample evidence of the applicant’s academic capabilities.  This could be provided by the School’s Principal or School Administrator, a Teacher or Coach or a Guidance Counselor.  The Academic Reference cannot be provided by someone related to the applicant.

A Character Reference Letter is a letter that can speak to the applicant’s character and abilities from a more personal perspective.  The character reference can also provide personal impressions of the applicant’s overall suitability as a potential student in the school and how they will enhance the school’s community by their admission into La Citadelle.

A Character Reference Letter can be submitted by any person who has known the applicant for a lengthy period (usually over three years) and can confidently provide information on what they believe is the applicant’s potential.  The Character reference can be a family member but cannot be a parent or sibling and cannot be the same referee as that of the Academic Letter of Reference.

Scholarships are based on the academic marks provided at the time of the application.

Scholarships are based on the grades provided at the time of the application and, provided all conditions of enrollment are met, the scholarship will not be withdrawn.

Scholarships are not renewable.

Yes.  All applicants are also eligible for all Financial Incentives available to new applicants, so long as the deadlines and terms of each scholarship are met.

No, all scholarships will only apply to students enrolling for the subsequent academic year.

All scholarship amounts will be applied directly towards the fees owing and will be deducted equitably on each payment due, as per the family’s schedule of payment selected.

No.  All scholarships will be deducted on the tuition fee amounts.
