LCA’s Structured Admissions Pathways

La Citadelle maintains a Structured Admissions Pathway designed to ensure alignment between each student, family, and the school’s academic philosophy.

Rather than operating on an open or informal admissions basis, LCA invites applications during clearly defined entry cycles throughout the year. This approach allows families to plan intentionally while ensuring that every applicant receives a thoughtful, individualized review.

While families are encouraged to apply during one of our primary admissions cycles, applications are reviewed year-round based on space availability and program fit.

Our Admissions Philosophy

Admission to La Citadelle is both selective and supportive.  We seek students who will thrive academically, socially, and developmentally within our academic & holistic learning environment.

Each admissions decision is guided by:

  • Academic readiness
  • Program alignment
  • Classroom balance and capacity
  • The student’s ability to benefit from and contribute to the LCA community

Admissions Procedure

Step 1 – Application Submission & Questionnaire Completion

To apply to LCA,  complete the online Application Form by the application cycle deadline.

Entry Cycle Deadlines:

  • November 15  – Early Admission

  • March 1  – Spring Admission
  • May 1  – Final Admission

Step 2 – On-Campus Assessment & Student Observation Day

As part of the admissions process, all applicants are required to participate in an on-campus assessment experience. This step allows LCA to gain a deeper understanding of each student’s academic readiness, learning approach, and support needs, while also providing families with insight into the school environment.

Assessment activities are age-appropriate and vary by division.

  • SK–Grade 5: Classroom Observation Day
  • Grades 6 and Above: Academic Assessment Day

Conversation-based meeting and interviews will be scheduled at that time with the applicant’s respective panel’s Vice Principal

Step 3 – Admission Decision

Following the completion of all required assessments and interviews, families will receive a formal offer of admission along with an enrolment package outlining next steps, required documentation, and applicable fees via email.

Step 4 – Enrollment Confirmation

Enrollment is confirmed only once all required documents and fees have been received. Due to limited availability, offers that are not confirmed by the deadline may be released to applicants on the waitlist.

Class Size Limits & Waitlist Policy

LCA maintains limited class sizes to preserve the quality of instruction and learning environment.

Once a class reaches capacity:

  • Qualified applicants will be placed on a waitlist
  • Placement from the waitlist is offered in order of offer

Summer & Late Applications

Applications received after May 1 are considered on a space-available basis.

All summer applicants must complete the full admissions process, which may include:

  • Submission of academic records
  • Admissions interview
  • Placement or readiness assessment (where applicable)
  • Summer admissions are intended for families who are:
  • Relocating
  • Transitioning from another academic pathway
